I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of History. I completed a MA in History and Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization in Literacy Studies at OSU, and a BA in History and a BA in Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
In my dissertation, “‘For al them that delight in Cookery’: The Production and Use of Cookery Books in England and France, 1300–1600," I explore the mass communication shift from manuscript to print through the lens of cookbooks. Within this larger narrative, I also explore cookeries as technical literature, habits of collecting, relationships between cookery and medicine, concepts of taste, and the role of gender in these texts.
In addition to receiving support from the OSU Department of History and the OSU Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies, I have also received a Schallek Award from the Medieval Academy of America (2011) and a New York Public Library Food Studies Fellowship (2013-2014).
